Frequently Asked Questions

In the event of an emergency will anyone know who to call or you’re your medical history?
MEDAlert™ can provide responders with identification information, current medications, allergies/reactions, and existing medical conditions all of which are critical to appropriate medical treatment.
MEDAlert™ also provides emergency contact information so that the proper people can be notified should you become involved in an accident or have a medical emergency. Hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and tornados
A Personal Medical Information Storage Device lets you prepare for emergencies before they happen.
Hurricanes and natural disasters are a part of every day life and the national weather service continues to expect terrible storms in the future.
Earthquakes on the west coast, tornados in the Midwest and floods throughout the nation cause hundreds of emergency evacuations every year.
Hurricane Katrina displaced tens of thousands of people, most of them hundreds of miles away from home or other family members. Many of these with injuries or medical conditions were treated by doctors that had incomplete information about the patients medical history putting the patient at risk.
FEMA and the Red Cross recommend that you maintain a 72 hour emergency kit which includes a list of important information as part of a disaster preparedness plan. That list should include your emergency medical and contact information.
Don't wait until its too late, make MEDAlert™ a part of your family's disaster recovery plan and you'll have the protection and peace of mind you deserve. What about my privacy?
Your privacy is extremely important to us. There is nothing we feel is more important than respecting the privacy of our customers. Our policy is to never share any personal information about our customers with any third-party. In addition, we sign a legal Confidentiality Agreement as part of our service agreement with you to ensure your privacy.
What happens to the information that is recorded?
The information you provide to us is used to create your personal MEDAlert™ memory device. Your compact MEDAlert™ device will contain all of the information you provide in a standardized format which is organized and easy for medical and emergency personnel to read.
After your MEDAlert™ device is delivered all of your personal information will be removed from our office. Paper forms will be shredded and any working files deleted to ensure that you are the only one who has a copy of your personal medical records on your MEDAlert™ device.
How long does it take to receive my MEDAlert™ device?
It typically takes 24 hours to process a new MEDAlert™ device or update an existing one. It should take only a few days to receive by mail. All MEDAlert™ devices are sent with signature confirmation to ensure delivery and privacy. As MEDAlert™ professionals, we'll document your critical medical information on a compact digital storage device making your information easily available in case of an emergency.
Our goal is to foster and improve patient care, reduce medical errors and assure at least a minimum standard of health information is available when a patient is seen by a first responder or other provider.
Your medical history information is an important first step to ensuring an accurate diagnosis and proper care in an emergency.
In an emergency, medical personnel have only seconds to diagnose your needs and begin lifesaving procedures. Unfortunately, patients are often incapacitated and cannot communicate their special needs in an emergency and are subject to an increased risk of medical errors.
In an emergency, healthcare providers must either start from scratch or act blindly because they don't have the patients medical information, relevant past history, allergies, or medications.
MEDAlert™ allows quality of care to be improved, as patients and doctors benefit from immediate access to the patients emergency information, allowing all parties to avoid the sometimes dangerous duplication of medications and other errors associated with incomplete information.
Let MEDAlert™ provide your critical information to emergency professionals when you can't!
